Memorial Donations
Give in Honor of Someone
Is there someone in your life that you want to remember or honor with a special gift? Perhaps there is a special day coming – a birthday, marriage, anniversary or holiday. Give a gift to SpiritWorks Foundation in their honor or in their memory. You can even ask others to make a donation to SpiritWorks on behalf of your loved one in lieu of flowers. Indicate your instructions when making your gift.
Local companies—large or small—can make a significant impact, from providing funds for critical recovery support services to sharing the talents, time, and interests of employees. Business leaders know that giving back is good for business—and good for the community! Learn how your company or agency can support our work by contacting Jan Brown.
Corporate Giving
Online
Give from the comfort of your computer
Online donations are simple and convenient, providing an immediate tax deduction. Gifts are tax-deductible and can be made securely on your credit card. You can even sign up to make recurring monthly payments with a click of the button. $25 a month adds up to $300 a year. $50 a month adds up to $600 a year. Give to a good cause and then deduct it from your taxes at year end.
Pledge
Give for the Long-Term
Many donors make a long-term commitment to SpiritWorks Foundation by pledging a gift that is payable over three years or more. Just indicate the total amount of your pledge and specify the payment terms. These long-term gifts help SpiritWorks Foundation plan for the future. Pledge by contacting Jan Brown.
Stocks & Securities Giving
Making a gift of appreciated securities such as stocks or other appreciated assets can be a great tax-efficient method for making a gift to SpiritWorks Foundation. In most instances, you can take a tax deduction for the full market value of the gift and avoid any capital gains tax. Contact Jan Brown for instructions for gifts of stock.

What if you could support the work of SpiritWorks Foundation in the future without committing any money today? A gift through your estate can one day help us carry out our work to grow the recovery advocacy movement. It’s easy – you can name SpiritWorks Foundation as a beneficiary of specific assets, of a portion of your estate, or of your residual estate. Assets provide an easy and tax-efficient way to make a bequest and provide the flexibility to be modified if your circumstances change. Your estate gift will assure that SpiritWorks Foundation is here to serve future generations.
Estate Giving
Retirement plan (IRA, 401(k), 403(b)), life insurance policy. and financial accounts such as bank or brokerage account or a certificate of deposit (CD)
If you’re age 70½ or older, you can make contributions directly from your IRA Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) to qualified charitable organizations without owing any income tax on the distributions. A charitable IRA rollover can be a great way to comply with the RMD requirement without triggering the tax liability that would occur if the RMD were paid to you. Contact Lauren McDonald for EIN number and information for distribution.

Camp Spirit Song
Camp Spirit Song is offered in partnership with the SpiritWorks Foundation to give the gift of a camp experience to children in Province III affected by the opioid addiction of a parent or other close loved one. 2019 is the inaugural year of Camp Spirit Song, and the first camp program of its kind on the east coast, and we ask your prayers and support for our ministry this summer. Camp provides children grades 4-8 with an opportunity to meet God through:
● the support of a Christian community
● fellowship with peers who share a common experience
● time to rest and play away from the distractions of everyday life
It is our mission to offer to Camp Spirit Song at no cost to campers’ families. You can help make camp a reality for 40 campers this year by sponsoring a camper. $1,000 covers the cost of one camper, including room and board, program materials, and staff fees. Individuals, parishes, and dioceses may donate directly toward camper sponsorship. St. Andrew’s Parish in Glenwood, Maryland, has committed to sponsoring the cost of one camper.
To make or pledge a contribution toward Camp Spirit Song, contact Lisa Marie Ryder, co-Executive Director of the Claggett Center: (301) 874-5147; lmryder@claggettcenter.org.
To learn more about Camp Spirit Song, camper applications, and volunteer opportunities, contact Rita Yoe, Program Coordinator at the Claggett Center:(301) 874-5147; ryoe@claggettcenter.org.
Why Give to SpiritWorks Foundation?
Nearly two-thirds of Americans have friends or family members who have struggled with alcohol or other drug addiction. Clinical addiction treatment can be an important step to beginning recovery. However, treatment programs are often limited in their duration and only the first step in the process of recovery. Learning to cope with the daily challenges of employment, stable housing, family and social relationships, and legal issues while building a healthy life in recovery takes a long-term approach.
Your donation to SpiritWorks will leverage significant outcomes. Consider, for example, that up to 85% of incarcerated individuals have problems directly associated with drugs or alcohol abuse or have committed crimes associated with alcohol and other drugs. It costs $35,000 or more to incarcerate someone for one year with no recovery services. For a fraction of that expenditure, SpiritWorks is currently providing recovery support services to more than 25 ex-offenders who have not returned to jail or prison. They are seeking employment or holding jobs, returning to school, restoring their lives, reuniting with families, and giving back to their communities.
Any donation you can contribute to SpiritWorks Foundation is greatly appreciated. You can either make a one-time donation or a monthly recurring donation via credit card at our secure non-profit donation website. Please note, SpiritWorks Foundation is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. Your donations are tax-deductible.
